Just before Londyn turned 1 I went on a mission to find a vintage romper for her and I stumbled across a whole community on Instagram that sold vintage children’s clothes, and I was hooked! I started sourcing it on my own and selling on occasions too. The delicate fabrics and unique styles is what I really love, and I’ve been asked over the years when I go to find it. With the rise in its popularity over the years it’s more common knowledge to know, but I still get asked, so thought I would share.
Things that I like to look for these days are vinyl records, Disney collectibles, vintage fabric and vintage clothing.
These are the top 3 places I go to find these things:
1. estatesales.net – You can see what estate sales are in your area, and the listings include preview pictures of the sale and what you can expect. You can even create an account and set alerts if you are interested of specific thing(s).
2. Flea Markets – The best way to find about these are stopping by antique malls in your area and asking if they know of any in the area. If you’re in Los Angeles, these happen every month.
1st Sunday of the month – PCC Flea Market in Pasadena
2nd Sunday of the month – Rose Bowl Flea in Pasadena
3rd Sunday of the month – Long Beach Antique Market in Long Beach
4th Sunday of the month – Topanga Vintage Market in Woodland Hills
3. Online: etsy, ebay
Other places worth a mention are garage sales, Facebook marketplace (has a great vintage furniture selection), apps like mercari and offerup, thrift stores, antique malls and thrift stores.
I will say that stumbling on finds, it’s a mix of luck and area. When sourcing, especially going to a flea market or estate sale, arrive early for the best finds. I typically go to a flea market every now and again since I really enjoy being out and about and enjoy the hunt. Even if you’re not someone who thinks this is your vibe, it’s worth visiting a flea market at least once. ☺
